Getting Out of a Ticket

Can I Get Out of a Ticket?

I am often asked if having a husband in law enforcement means I can get out of a ticket.

Exhibit A

The answer is obviously no.  And I don’t think it should.  I didn’t thank the officer for the ticket, but it also didn’t ruin my day.  While I am not admitting to the offense, I would NEVER run a red light on purpose and endanger my family.  A ticket is preferable to an accident and since this is only my 2nd in the 25 years I’ve been driving, I’m probably due.

Ironically Craig now has to sign up for overtime to pay my fine.  Lucky for him I know a great little intersection where the citations practically write themselves.

Want a Sticker Kid?

I love the picture because Hank is proudly displaying the sticker he was given by the citing officer, but nervously holding my citation. I may have called him a traitor for accepting the sticker while my other children refused in solidarity. So, Sophie may be too old for stickers and Maren may realize we have a whole drawerful at home.

To make up for his treachery, Hank was also extra helpful the rest of the day in helping me identify all red lights.  Even if they were east/west and I was travelling south.

When was your last alleged traffic violation? Did you get out of it? Did you deserve to?

I love that picture of Hank holding your citation. My husband is currently in the police academy and I get asked all the time if I had him go so that I could get out of tickets. Um, no. Just no.

At least you know your kids won’t be able to get in trouble without you finding out :)

    Ohmygoodness, that photo is priceless!

And le sigh – I get driving reminders from my kids, too. And even more swearing reminders. (Is that shocking?!)

Ouch…well there goes my idea that friends and family of law enforcement can’t catch a break either. LOL

The photo is too cute though…definitely one for the family photo album!

My eldest likes to remind me of the function of red lights versus that of green lights by singing a song about them. Sadly she is a lousy singer.

And to be positive, isn’t nice to see Hank on the straight and narrow, a law abiding citizen. Oh admit it, you often wondered.

    Oh, Hank’s face is priceless.

I’m pretty sure that’s what Jack looked like when he swore he didn’t have anything in his butt…

    XO and good luck.

Had a cop pull over the car RIGHT in front of me. i.e. The one I had been about to pass before he braked to try and avoid the cop’s radar. And all I could think was “Oh thank gawd. Now the Big Man won’t have to work another double at the clinic… but it would have been kind of cool for the Little Man to meet a cop..”

Ugh. Getting tickets. I’ve gotten three of them [2 for running what I swear were YELLOW lights and one for turning right on red] and I just chalk it up to karma. Or something.

    Cute photos!

I ran a red light this spring. I was alone and totally oblivious to the world around me and followed the guy in front of me {who also ran the light, but my dumb ass was last and so he ticketed me}.

    ah well

insurance rates be damned, no one got hurt.
